The Early Childhood Council of Hillsborough County is proud to introduce the Early Childhood Training Institute. Developed in coordination with the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, the Training Institute will plan, coordinate and conduct training for early childhood professionals who wish to gain knowledge and expertise in working with a broad array of children. Subject matter will focus on enhancing the social and emotional development of young children, both typically developing as well as children with developmental delay or disabilities.
The Training Institute is an initiative of the Council, its staff, membership and Board of Directors. The Institute has five primary goals:
- To increase awareness and expand the knowledge base in the community with respect to early childhood issues, developmental challenges and infant mental health needs
- To build capacity in the provider community around infant mental health and early childhood development
- To advance advocacy efforts for early childhood and infant mental health
- To increase awareness and application of system of care values and principles
- To address ongoing prenatal, early childhood / infant mental health issues and challenges through an intensive, inter-disciplinary ‘think tank’ comprised of local scholars and early childhood practitioners
The Early Childhood Council of Hillsborough County was established in 1983 to increase community awareness and access to services for young children with special needs.
Today, ECC continues its rich tradition of advocacy, education and innovation to benefit all children from birth to eight years of age and their families.
